In Denham Springs, mosquitoes can become a significant problem due to the Amite River running alongside the area. BREC’s Frenchtown Road Conservation Area adds additional potential for mosquito problems since it includes many acres of forested land, along with swamps and standing water. Gray’s Creek, located on the east side of Denham Springs, also accelerates mosquito problems. Mosquito bites may only raise an itchy welt, but these pests can also carry diseases like Zika Virus and West Nile, which can be debilitating and very serious.
The large amount of forested area around Denham Springs puts residents at risk of termite infestations, including drywood, subterranean, and Formosan termites. Termites of all kinds are capable of digesting wood because of special bacteria in their digestive tract. Because they tunnel through wood from the inside out, termites can remain undetected in a household for up to 10 years. Termites don’t need to sleep, so they are working 24 hours a day, nonstop. Nationwide, termites cause $5 billion in home damages every year.
The heavily forested area around Denham Springs also attracts fleas and ticks. Both fleas and ticks can cause significant problems for pets. If you come back from a walk through the Frenchtown Road Conservation Area, Willow Woods Park, North Park, or South Park, or explore any forested areas south of River Run, make sure you inspect yourself for fleas and ticks. Ticks can transmit nasty diseases including Lyme’s Disease, Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Powassan Virus Disease, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF).

UPDATE only one day later: Kristy, I believe was her name, contacted me today to resolve my issues. She was very kind and understanding to my concerns. She addressed the issues I was having and even offered extra help to solve any problems caused by the delay and storms. Awesome customer service, they've always been very friendly and personable. Very happy to say they have 5-star customer service. I almost feel bad for being upset to begin with; but that's what a thick spider web to the face will do a fella. Thanks for all the help guys! Initial Review: One of their salesmen came to my door twice to convince me to buy their service. The initial spray was $75 and would make all the bugs from in, around, and on my house to disperse into my yard, and after 30 days, they'd spray again to kill everything in the yard. I've got 2 dogs, so the flea spray was what got me to agree. They were awesome and friendly, both salesman and technician that sprayed. However It's been about a week past the 30 days when they said they'd come back; they haven't. I've called 4-5 times over the last week, each time I've either sat listening to their call waiting bug facts for 20-30 minutes or simply asked for a voicemail or hung up on. I've left a few voicemails, but no call has been returned. Now I've got a huge spike in bug activity for longer than expected, my dogs now have fleas, and there's spiders bigger than I've seen since I've bought the property building webs underneath my patio that I walk into every time I open my back door. Not sure if they've been busy or what. They seemed awesome, very friendly salesman , workers, and check up call after initial spray. But having not heard from them since and not being able to reach them or get a return call is quite odd, and it's left me to stew. I'd really like to get a call back, or even just come do the follow up spray! I did sign a year contract, and that all I have to do was call and they'd come out and spray for free if I had any concerns about the bug activity, but they won't answer.

Fox tries to sponsor a new organization, nonprofit, or small business in the area every month. That being said, we are proud to sponsor Crawfish Aquatics in Denham Springs. Their swim team is exceptional, and their pool is the best for a day spent in the water.
Fox is also a member of the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce. Denham Springs is included in the Livingston Parish area.
